According to an internal wireless message from the Force Secretary, Force Headquarters, Abuja, dated October 9, 2025, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has directed that all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) convene the DSB for Inspectors who were confirmed on or before December 31, 2020.

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the commencement of the 2025 Departmental Selection Board (DSB) exercise for Inspectors across the country, as part of efforts to promote eligible officers to higher ranks.

According to an internal wireless message from the Force Secretary, Force Headquarters, Abuja, dated October 9, 2025, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has directed that all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) convene the DSB for Inspectors who were confirmed on or before December 31, 2020.

“The Inspector-General of Police (INGENPOL) has directed that the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) 2025 be convened for Inspectors who were confirmed on or before December 31, 2020,” it said.

“Affected Inspectors serving in FHQ Annexes, DEPPOLs, PTS, TRACKPOLs, Airport, COOP, and MARINPOL are to attend the Board in the zones where they are domiciled.”

The exercise, which will hold simultaneously across all police zones, is scheduled to begin on December 1, 2025, and end on December 12, 2025.

The circular stated that Inspectors serving in Force Headquarters Annexes, Training Schools, Formations, Airports, Cooperative, and Marine units are to participate in the DSB within the zones where they are domiciled.

Only officers with at least three consecutive “B” grades and above in their Annual Performance Evaluation Reports (APER) for 2022, 2023, and 2024, and with no subsisting disciplinary punishment or pending disciplinary matters (PDM), will be eligible for consideration.

“All qualified Inspectors for this Board must have scored three B’s and above in their APER gradings for 2022, 2023, and 2024, without any subsisting entry punishment or PDM,” it said.

Zonal AIGs are to serve as Chairmen of their respective DSB panels, while State Commissioners of Police (CPs) will serve as members.

All completed Police Form 81 and Form F.O. 301 for each candidate, along with due reports, are to reach the Force Secretary’s office on or before December 19, 2025, in both soft and hard copies.

The soft copies are to be submitted in Excel format and sent via email to [email protected].

The message emphasized that the directive should be treated as “very important” and executed without delay.
