The Nigeria Police Force has begun a new round of mobilisation of officers into its Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), following approval from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
An internal circular dated October 8, 2025, and signed by CSP Haruna J. Bomby, Commanding Officer of CTU Base 24, Force Headquarters, Abuja, directed officers interested in joining the unit to submit their details for screening and possible deployment.
According to the memo, the recruitment exercise is open to officers from the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) down to Constable who have served for at least three years.
Interested officers are required to forward their personal details, including name, service number, command or formation, rank, and phone number, to a designated WhatsApp number.
The notice, marked “very important,” stated that the mobilisation followed a letter from the Office of the Force Secretary dated October 3, 2025, approving the exercise.
“I refer to the Inspector-General of Police, Office of the Force Secretary, letter no. CH:5660/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB.14/34 dated 3rd October, 2025, granting approval for the mobilization of personnel into the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU),” it said.
The Counter-Terrorism Unit is one of the Nigeria Police’s specialised tactical units responsible for responding to terrorism threats, armed insurgencies, and high-risk criminal operations across the country.
