The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his extended vacation, suggesting that his prolonged absence indicates a preference for leaving the country on “auto-pilot.”

The ADC also criticised the simultaneous absence of Tinubu and Shettima from the country, with its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, questioning the role of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, in representing the President at some official events.

The party’s remarks follow ongoing debates regarding the President’s decision to spend his annual leave in Europe, which has drawn scrutiny from various opposition figures and political analysts. Critics have raised concerns about the governance of the nation while the President is away, particularly during significant international events like the United Nations General Assembly.

The Presidency has consistently defended the President’s trip, characterizing it as a “working vacation” and maintaining that the administration continues to function effectively under the established constitutional framework.
