Abdoulaye was arrested by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja, in Kano State on August 5, 2026, after fleeing Chad following the alleged killing.
The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest and repatriation of a Chadian national, Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, who was wanted by authorities in N’Djamena over the alleged torture and murder of Nazik Mahamat Saleh.
Abdoulaye was arrested by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja, in Kano State on August 5, 2026, after fleeing Chad following the alleged killing.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to the statement, the victim, Saleh, was tortured and killed on May 3, 2026, while an international warrant of arrest was subsequently issued against Abdoulaye and her alleged accomplice, Fatime Senoussi Mouktar.
The warrant was issued by the Court of Appeal in N’Djamena on June 22, 2026, in connection with the case.
The police said Abdoulaye, who was also allegedly linked to narcotics trafficking activities in Chad, fled to Nigeria after the incident.
She was subsequently traced to Railway Quarters in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, where she was arrested following what the police described as coordinated intelligence operations.
The suspect was repatriated to N’Djamena on August 14 through Lomé, Togo, under established bilateral police cooperation arrangements.
The operation was carried out by INTERPOL NCB Abuja in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB N’Djamena to facilitate her return to Chad to face judicial proceedings.
The statement partly read: “On 14th August, 2026, the suspect was successfully repatriated to N’Djamena, Chad, through Lomé, Togo, under established bilateral Police cooperation arrangements. The operation was conducted by INTERPOL NCB Abuja in close collaboration with INTERPOL NCB N’Djamena to facilitate her return to Chad to face the judicial process.
“Commending the successful operation, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, NPM, commended the operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja for their professionalism, diligence and effective coordination with their Chadian counterparts, noting that the successful arrest and repatriation reflects the Force’s commitment to ensuring that fugitives do not evade justice by crossing international borders.
