Gunmen disrupted the collation of results from the Osun State governorship election on Saturday night after hooded assailants stormed a collation centre in Osogbo, the state capital.
The incident occurred around 9:45pm at the Ataoja D collation centre located within Union Baptist Primary School, which covers several polling units in Ward 4.
The attackers reportedly fired sporadically into the air for about five minutes, apparently to scare election officials away and disrupt the collation exercise.

The gunfire caused tension at the centre before the situation was brought under control by security personnel.
The incident temporarily interrupted the collation process, with further details on the attack and the status of the exercise still awaited.
