Meet two Nigerian sisters who bagged First Class Honours in UK

Two Nigerian sisters from Corby, United Kingdom, Stephanie and Isabel Offor, have celebrated a remarkable academic feat after graduating with First Class Honours in the same academic year.
The Northamptonshire Telegraph reported on Wednesday that Stephanie studied mechanical engineering at the University of Leicester, while Isabel graduated from Nottingham Trent University’s Faculty of Law and Business, with both sisters achieving First Class Honours.
According to the report, “Their achievement has become more than a family celebration. It is a moment that reflects the hopes of church families, cultural groups and wider communities in both Nigeria and the UK that watched them grow.”
Stephanie had earlier won the Goldsmith Prize 2025 in recognition of the excellent work she completed during her placement year.
Following her internship, she is set to begin work as a manufacturing engineer with Caterpillar, a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment.
Isabel, meanwhile, was one of only 11 students in her cohort of 47 to graduate with First Class Honours from Nottingham Trent University.
Director of Creativity and Sense Consulting, Ogo Ogbata, who attended the sisters’ celebration, described their achievement as an unusual academic feat. “Having two sisters graduate with First Class Honours in entirely different, rigorous disciplines (mechanical engineering and law with business) is an incredibly rare academic double feat,” Ogbata said.

For their father, Chidi Offor, the possibility of both daughters achieving First Class Honours had seemed almost too good to be true.
He said, “he had been told they were on track to achieve this, but it was only when letters arrived from the universities that the moment became real.”
Their mother, Oluchi Offor, also expressed her pride in her daughters, saying they had given her “wings to fly.”
Stephanie is now preparing to begin her career in manufacturing engineering with Caterpillar, while Isabel is looking ahead to the next stage of her career after graduating in law and business.
Isabel has encouraged others to dream boldly, work hard and never allow anyone to make them feel inadequate.
For the sisters, the First Class Honours mark the culmination of years of dedication and sacrifice as they begin new professional chapters in their respective fields.
