Atiku camp questions Tinubu’s 90-day relief plan as deadline falls after election
The campaign council of ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has described President Bola Tinubu’s 90-day relief plan as “election bait,” saying it offers no specifics and would deliver any benefit after the vote. Phrank Shaibu, the council’s director of strategic communication, made the remarks at a press conference at the party secretariat in Abuja on Friday.
The plan covers five priorities: food affordability, tax harmonisation, completion of key projects, removal of investment bottlenecks and household support.
A government cannot put a 90-day deadline on hunger.
He argued that a 90-day timeline would run beyond the January 16 election, and that the five priorities were long-standing problems that should have been tackled earlier. Shaibu also said the government did not include protections for vulnerable households when it removed the petrol subsidy, and disputed claims of fuel discounts at NNPC stations.
He raised concern about a registration form called “Arise for Tinubu 2027,” which he said asks for voter ID, bank details and phone numbers, and he questioned the choice of Kaduna for Tinubu’s campaign launch, citing civilian deaths from military strikes, abductions and flooding.
