The Ogun State Police Command has foiled a suspected cult initiation in Owode-Yewa, arresting three students, including a 12-year-old, and recovering weapons allegedly intended for use during the planned activity.

The suspects, aged 12, 18 and 18, were arrested following intelligence received by the police about a planned cult-related gathering tagged “Kito Day,” which was reportedly expected to involve students from different secondary schools in the area.

According to the police, the operation was carried out on Thursday, October 22, 2026, after the information was received about the planned activity.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Owode-Yewa reportedly acted swiftly by deploying a team of detectives, working in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, to the identified location.

The operation led to the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of several items suspected to be connected to the planned gathering.

The recovered items included one English axe, two knives, one short cutlass, one rubber toy gun and a school bag.

The police said the suspects were taken into custody following the operation, while the recovered items would form part of the evidence for further investigation.

The case is scheduled to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Friday, October 23, 2026, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
