Baba-Ahmed Accuses Tinubu, APC Of Underestimating Northern Voters Ahead Of 2027
The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has warned that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu are making a grave political error by underestimating the resolve of voters in Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on the current political climate, Baba-Ahmed argued that the administration’s reliance on optics and what he described as “rent-a-crowd” tactics during campaign rallies would not translate into actual electoral success. He emphasized that the economic hardship and insecurity currently plaguing the region have created a deep sense of disillusionment among the electorate.
You can rent a voter, but voting is a different matter entirely. The APC is mistaking a packed stadium for genuine nationwide support, but they are failing to see the reality on the ground where citizens are struggling to survive.
Baba-Ahmed further noted that the North, which holds a significant portion of the nation’s registered voters, is becoming increasingly critical of the administration’s policies. He cautioned that the party’s failure to address the core concerns of the populace could lead to a significant shift in voting patterns in 2027.
The PRP chairman urged the government to move beyond political posturing and focus on tangible governance, warning that the electorate is more informed and determined than the ruling party assumes.
