Two Persons Die In Crash On Yola Road In Adamawa | Sahara Reporters

The deceased were identified as the Keke Napep operator, popularly known as “Abba,” and a passenger, Shamsuya Musa.

Two persons have been confirmed dead following a fatal road accident involving a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke Napep and an SUV jeep along the Sangere Futy Road in Yola, Adamawa State.

The deceased were identified as the Keke Napep operator, popularly known as “Abba,” and a passenger, Shamsuya Musa.

Confirming the incident, the Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said two persons were confirmed dead in the accident.

Nguroje said the Command’s Motor Traffic Division (CMTD) has commenced investigation to determine the cause of the fatal crash.

The accident has, however, renewed concerns over the heavy traffic and increasing pressure on the Sangere Futy Road, one of the major routes into Yola, the Adamawa State capital, from the northeastern axis.

The road has become particularly busy because of the large number of commercial tricycles operating along the route, as well as its proximity to Modibbo Adama University (MAU), which attracts significant daily vehicular and pedestrian movement.

Residents and road users have repeatedly raised concerns about the volume of traffic on the road and the potential risks posed by congestion, particularly with the high concentration of Keke Napep operators transporting students, workers and other commuters.

The latest tragedy has therefore heightened calls for improved traffic management and road safety measures along the busy corridor to prevent further loss of lives.

While the police investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash, residents have expressed sympathy with the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of those receiving treatment in hospital.
