Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), have rescued 14 kidnapped victims in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a Tuesday statement signed by Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 OPFY acted on credible intelligence about terrorists moving with captives around Madaci Forest in Sabuwa LGA.
The statement said troops mobilized swiftly, made contact with the terrorists, and engaged them in a gun battle. The pressure forced the criminals to abandon their captives and flee into nearby bushes.
During exploitation of the area, troops rescued 14 victims, comprising 6 males and 8 females.
Preliminary findings showed the victims were abducted from different communities within Dandume, Bakori and Funtua areas of the state.

The Theatre Command said the operation reflects the responsiveness and determination of Operation Fansan Yamma to protect lives and deny terrorists freedom of action across the North West.
“The Theatre Command reassures the public that troops will continue to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and intensify operations to safeguard communities across the North West,” the statement further reads.
It also urged members of the public to keep providing “timely and credible information” to security forces to support ongoing operations.
