In a video of the press conference, Sowore urged Nigerians, particularly residents of the Federal Capital Territory, to join a planned demonstration on Tuesday, describing it as part of a broader struggle to remove Tinubu from power.

Omoyele Sowore, human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2027 election, has called on Nigerians to mobilise for a rally in Abuja, declaring that President Bola Tinubu’s tenure is nearing its end.

Sowore made the call on Monday, while addressing journalists after proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja in the case popularly known as the “Tinubu Is a Criminal” trial.

In a video of the press conference, Sowore urged Nigerians, particularly residents of the Federal Capital Territory, to join a planned demonstration on Tuesday, describing it as part of a broader struggle to remove Tinubu from power.

“After Kaduna yesterday, Tinubu knows that his tenure has come to an end,” Sowore said, referring to a political gathering in Kaduna.

He also claimed that the organisers of the gathering struggled to attract a large crowd, saying they had brought supporters from across the country but could not fill a stadium with a capacity of 5,000 people.

“Because judgment time has come. And all this desperation you are seeing at the Federal High Court, prosecutors, DSS, police, they cannot help Tinubu,” he said.

Sowore added that the security agencies and government institutions would not be able to prevent what he described as the impending end of Tinubu’s administration.

“They couldn’t help Babangida, they couldn’t help Abacha, they couldn’t help Obasanjo. Tinubu will face disgrace,” he said.

The activist urged Nigerians to remain steadfast, expressing confidence that the current administration would soon become a thing of the past.

“We just have a little bit of time left before this regime will become a regime of the past. And this affliction shall never have a second time in our lives,” he said.

Sowore subsequently called on his supporters to mobilise for Tuesday’s planned rally in Abuja, which he described as the “Tinubu Must Go” demonstration.

“But we are coming back tomorrow and we want you to mobilise everybody. Because tomorrow when we leave this place, tomorrow we will enter town. Yes, our Tinubu Must Go rally,” he said.

He encouraged residents of Abuja to invite their friends, relatives and associates to participate in the demonstration, saying his movement is determined to push for fundamental political change in Nigeria.

“We want to do this revolution once and for all,” he declared.

Sowore also cited student protests in Serbia and demonstrations in France and Spain as examples of popular movements challenging political and social conditions, arguing that Nigerians should equally mobilise to demand change.

“Why is it that we cannot do our own in Nigeria? Our own time has come as well,” he said.

The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate also criticised opposition figures who, according to him, rely primarily on social media to challenge the Tinubu administration.

“You cannot drive Tinubu away by social media. If you like, you can write everything you want on Twitter (X). If you are serious, all of you should come out at once,” he said.

He accused some opposition politicians of being more interested in replacing those in power than fundamentally changing the country’s political and economic system.

“But we, we are determined online, offline to make sure that this country is liberated. And we are going to sacrifice whatever it will take for it,” Sowore added.

Sowore ended his address by reiterating his call for Nigerians to join the planned demonstration, declaring that the struggle against the current administration would continue.
