Tinubu Fuel Subsidy: Possible Issues – Kwankwaso
The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has criticised the removal of fuel subsidy in the manner it was done by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a hasty decision that has worsened the economic situation of Nigerians.
And not only he decided to remove the subsidy, what he did was to remove it immediately—in fact, day one—without looking at all those possible issues that were associated with that.
Kwankwaso, who spoke in an interview, noted that while the three major presidential candidates in the 2023 election had campaigned on removing fuel subsidy, the immediate implementation by President Tinubu without considering associated issues plunged the country into a total mess.
He further stated that an NDC-led government under Peter Obi would reintroduce fuel subsidy in a different form, primarily by investing in refineries to ensure supply meets demand and to make fuel prices affordable for Nigerians.
