President Bola Tinubu will finally return to Nigeria on Sunday, September 28 after almost one month of working vacation in Europe, sources have revealed.

Sources close to presidency told TheCable that Tinubu will land in Lagos and stay there for up to a week before moving to Abuja.

Tinubu left Abuja August 30 for London for 3-week vacation as part of his annual leave, then moved to Paris where he held private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bollore.

On Sept 21, presidency announced he extended the vacation by few days and would return at weekend.

His long absence triggered constitutional debate – he spent over 21 days outside without publicly transmitting letter to National Assembly under Section 145 to allow VP Shettima to act. House of Reps Save Democracy Group even asked NASS to reconvene and disclose if they received any letter.

Presidency says Tinubu has been directing affairs from abroad – ordering probe into death of 37 miners in Niger State held by NSCDC, while SGF George Akume and VP Shettima (now in New York for UNGA) represented him at events.
