Reason Tinubu Will Visit Just 12 States to Campaign Finally Revealed
President Bola Tinubu has formally launched his campaign for a second term, with his party’s proposed timetable indicating that he will personally attend rallies in only 12 states. This strategic decision, which culminates in a major closing rally in his home state of Lagos on January 9, has been clarified as a necessity to allow the president to remain focused on his governing duties.
The 12 states identified for these personal campaign visits include Oyo, Kaduna, Rivers, Plateau, Borno, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Kano, Adamawa, and Lagos. These locations are widely viewed as critical electoral battlegrounds where the president aims to reclaim lost ground and solidify his political standing ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.
Mr. President should know that his visit to these states, if he eventually does, will not in any way change the direction or the determination of the people to vote him out.
While the president’s camp emphasizes the need to balance campaigning with governance, opposition figures have criticized the limited travel schedule. Some opponents have characterized the decision as a sign of being ashamed to face the electorate or a fear of being jeered due to the economic challenges faced by citizens during his administration. Despite these criticisms, the president enters the race with a significant political machine, reportedly backed by a large majority of Nigeria’s state governors.
