President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Saturday in Kaduna at the flag-off of his presidential campaign for the 2027 general elections, took a swipe at opposition leaders, accusing them of creating the poverty and hunger they now use to campaign against him.

I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did. They created the hunger; they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it.

President Tinubu said at the well-attended rally at the Ranchers Bees Stadium. The President thanked the people of Kaduna State for their support in the 2023 presidential election, describing their contribution to his emergence as President as a source of enduring gratitude.

Tinubu urged eligible voters to participate actively in the January 16, 2027, presidential election and support APC candidates at all levels. He declared, “Thank you for this massive showing up. It is a promise. Come January 16, 2027, you must go out massively to elect me again. APC all the way. APC for our governors, APC for our senators, APC for our honourable members of the House of Representatives, and APC for our members of the House of Assembly.”

He reminded supporters that their votes would determine the country’s political direction, urging them to remain vigilant against misinformation and attempts to mislead the electorate. “Your prosperity is here. Your full joy is in your hand. The fingerprint will reflect it. Be careful. Watch them. Don’t let them lie to you. What is in the past is the past,” he said.
