Police arrest five suspects over N100m armed robbery of phones, accessories in Ogun

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested five suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a mobile phone and accessories dealer in Ogun State.
Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Ani Iniedu disclosed this in a Saturday.
The police said the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS), following a petition addressed to the Inspector-General of Police by Sanniphil Company over a violent robbery involving its consignment.
Acting on the petition, STS operatives commenced a discreet investigation on August 10, 2026, which led to the arrest of the suspects in Ogun State.
Iniedu said preliminary investigation revealed that at about 7:00pm on August 5, 2026, the suspects attacked a company vehicle conveying phones and accessories valued at about ₦100 million from Lagos to Onitsha and carted away the items.

The suspects were identified as: Okori Joyus, ‘M’, 23 years; Yetunde Lasisi, ‘M’, 53 years; Usen Samuel, ‘M’, 20 years; Usen Wisdom, ‘M’, 25 years; and Quadri Oluwadare, ‘M’, 56 years.
The police said a total of 81 brand-new smart mobile phones and 196 chargers were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover the remaining stolen property.
“The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its commitment to protecting businesses and citizens from violent crime across the country,” the statement reads.
