Apostle Wisdom, a self-proclaimed former associate of several high-profile religious figures, has alleged that Apostle O.C. Benjamin orchestrates fake miracles, including staged healings and resurrections, to deceive his followers.
Speaking in an interview with KaaTruths Podcast, which was monitored by SaharaReporters on Thursday, Wisdom claimed to have personally participated in fabricating miracles under Benjamin’s direction. He alleged that Benjamin hires individuals to pose as the sick, disabled, or even deceased during church services and crusades to create the illusion of divine intervention.
In a confession titled "I Will Be Killed By These Prophets After This Confession," Wisdom detailed how a young man was paid to pretend to be deaf and dumb before being miraculously “healed” during a church gathering. He also accused Benjamin of staging a fake resurrection by hiring another individual to pose as a corpse.
"We hired the young man and the ambulance, we bought the casket... we came with 12 extra people to act as the family, the neighbour, the mourners so that it looked real," Wisdom stated.
He described how a staged event unfolded, with Benjamin dramatically using a handkerchief and anointing oil, allegedly given to him by Pastor Uma Ukpai, to perform the “miracle.”
Wisdom further alleged that Benjamin operates a network of individuals who are compensated for participating in staged miracles. According to him, these performances are designed to convince congregants of Benjamin’s divine powers, ensuring their continued devotion and financial contributions.
Recounting his past experiences, Wisdom claimed to have served as Benjamin’s personal assistant. He described how Benjamin assured him that orchestrated miracles were necessary to build the church’s reputation and attract larger crowds.
"He said that this drama we are about to act will help the church grow, and on no account should I reveal the truth," Wisdom recalled.
He also recounted a large-scale crusade where Benjamin allegedly demonstrated his so-called prophetic abilities. "He would prophesy to five people at once, calling it a 'conference prophecy.' He would reveal personal details about them with stunning accuracy," Wisdom claimed.
While Benjamin has yet to respond to the accusations, the revelations have sparked debate over the integrity of faith-based healing practices and the potential exploitation of religious followers.
He said, "We have machinery that acts miracles. We have them in bundles - in dozens. Even if you need a community of them, you have them. I have their contacts, then - even if you need 50 people or 100 people to be at your crusade venue with crutches, it's your money.
“They have headquarters, and it is in Agbor, Delta State. In fact, I didn't even know that village is a miracle village; everyone is up for hire - the one with a working stick - an old man, maybe 90 years old, ready for work is ready to be used. In Agbor, we have people who I will put a call out to, and they will bring people.
"They know what they are coming for. You'll be blind, and you carry him, you be the stepmother, you be this - maybe five people or one person to make it look real.
“You will come with this wheelchair, we buy them, the crutches, we buy them. Nobody, I say nobody - forget all these things you see. They carry them up and down, they are all fake, and nothing is true.
"You will learn to jump up. You will start hearing them - man of God, I can hear - say one, one, say two, it will be like you have to lecture them not to say it fast. Man of God, there is somebody here, he can hear now. Bring him, bring him, bring him. What is your name? The person will say his name. How did you know your name? I'm not saying that God is not working. I didn't say so.
"...There was one thing that happened in our church then somebody that was deaf and dumb - Fulfillers House Church Assemble, located at No. 27 Odinkwe Street in the City of Abakaliki. It is there up till today. Apostle O.C Benjamin is still doing the abracadabra.
"This young man was to act as a deaf and dump person. Somebody brought him to church claiming to be his younger brother but he was our machinery. After service, they have healed the young man, people have jubilated - this guy went to stand by the gate and was making a call. The person they just healed - that had been deaf and dumb for 20 years - he is making call at the gate of the church. Oga, who you dey call?
"It wasn't a small thing that day. We quickly rushed this guy. We signal to Papa; he brought his vehicle and we asked him to enter and we moved out of the premises. No be small beating we beat him (We beat him well). How did you manage to make call? How can you be deaf and dumb and you will be making calls? Who gave you the phone? How did you manage to get the phone number? The thing is that he forgot that he had not finished his work, because his work finishes when he enters the vehicle and goes back.
"We have a lot of them - machineries. They will come whenever you want them. Like when we acted the dead person, nobody died. We didn't raise anybody from the dead. The young man we hired, the ambulance, was from Enugu State; we didn't hire him in Ebonyi State. The crusade or the programme was held in Ezza-Ezekuna Hall in Abakaliki. It is located at Nsugbe Street behind the motherless baby's home.
"People that follow O.C. Benjamin very well know about all this. We hired the young man and the ambulance; we bought the casket, and we only paid the ambulance man. We came with 12 extra people to act as the family, the neighbour, the mourners so that it looked real. We hired 12 extra people, which was what we hired for that particular programme. Those 12 people were only to follow. People that would say we know him.
"When the 12 people came in a congregation and identified they know this person, what is left again now for you not to believe? The young man entered the casket immediately after we reached the motherless babies’ home. From there, he entered the casket.
“Initially, there was an injection my oga (boss) collected from Apostle (Johnson) Suleman. My oga Benjamin collected injection from Apostle Suleman - he told me himself. I was his personal assistant (PA), but he said that he was afraid of injecting that young man so that he would not die, but he was told that that injection had time that it would expire. But along the line, he was very afraid of giving the guy the injection even when the guy agreed.
"The guy agreed and accepted the conditions that they would give him the injection and nothing would happen, but he was afraid. We had already arranged it, but along the line, he called and said no, let the guy just enter the casket like that without the injection.
“His mind did not accept it. We said okay, since it's like that, the guy would just sit down in the ambulance with other people that hired bus, another bus - those were also machinery because they came with two cars - that bus was for those people that came to testify that they knew the boy.
"So when we got to the motherless babies’ home, just the diversion to that very hall, that was when the guy entered the casket, but the casket was closed when they wanted to bring it out. Because that was when he stopped receiving air. Just immediately they wanted to bring it out, that was when they now shut it (the casket). We already wore hand gloves and stockings for him and put all these cotton wools.
"He was just there; the story was that he died three days earlier, and they wanted to bury him, but somebody directed them to bring the body to the prophet. Ushers were like, no, no, no, and he was just standing in the puppet saying what was going on there. They say, ‘Papa, it is a dead body,’ and he asks does this place look like a mortuary? Thereafter, he said, bring it, bring it and they brought the young man. Heat wanted to kill the young man inside the casket. First, he said they should open it.
"The shock made the people not discover immediately, but later, a lot of people started talking about it. They were questioning how the guy was sweating so profusely. Imagine a hall that was already even stuffy. So he prayed and prayed and prayed. My brother, innocent people were killing themselves that they were praying. Prayer warriors - they gathered themselves on one side. People were praying. Wetin concern me (What was my business)? I was just there nodding my head like a lizard.
"After all, we were just waiting for the time dead body to stand up and everybody would rest. The people took it very seriously as it was real. People were praying; prayer warriors set themselves outside and formed a circle. I said even God that day would be like, what is going on? Why are they confusing me? No one died, and you want me to raise the dead? The angel in charge of raising the dead was even confused that day because nobody died.
“But after that, he entered inside the casket (the prophet) and lay down on top of the boy. First, he used his handkerchief to clean the sweat; he noticed the guy was sweating. He used his hanky to clean that as if he was using his hanky to anoint the dead body.
"Then there was this olive oil that we bought at New Market in Enugu, it comes with a well-designed bottle and looks different. He brought the oil out, and this oil was given to him by Papa, Pastor Uma Ukpai. He said, ‘Use this oil raise the dead, make people millionaire, use it to break curses, use it to do a lot of things’. That is what the oil stands for. That if this oil will touch this young man, the anointing in this oil will raise the guy. He said, ‘Wisdom, give me the oil.’ I was holding it very strong so that it would not break because if it broke, that was our money because we were hoping to get a lot with the oil that night. When they sprinkled it on that young man, after some time, the guy sneezed. Immediately, the hall erupted in flames of joy.
The news from that hall began spreading to the villages that same night. The news was the prophet raised the dead. The young man stood and was sitting on the altar. As they were jubilating, he said, 'Stop,' and there was total silence. He said God said to me that 20 of you here, this oil will touch you. If you are coming tomorrow, come with a seed of N100,000; come and let this oil touch you.”
“From N100,000 to N50,000 to N20,000 to N10,000 to N5,000 and finally to students that had no money - N2,000. That same oil that blesses people for N100,000 is the same oil that blesses people for N2,000. The same God that said only N20 people is also blessing over a hundred people," he narrated.
