Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has pledged to use his second term to accelerate the development of the state and transform its economy from one largely driven by the civil service into an industry-based economy.
Adeleke made the commitment after securing re-election, while outlining his priorities for the next four years.
The governor said his administration would build on its existing blueprint and pursue continuity in infrastructure and other areas of development.
“My vision for Osun State is to make sure that Osun State moves from being a civil service state to industrial state,” Adeleke said.
He added that his administration would continue implementing its development plans with the aim of making Osun a model for other states.
“As I’m talking to you right now, Osun State is now a reference point,” he said.
Adeleke also spoke about his plans for women and young people, promising to sustain their inclusion in government and expand opportunities for them.
The governor noted that women were already represented in his cabinet and pledged to maintain that approach during his second term.

He also called on residents across political divides to contribute ideas towards the development of the state.
“Some people, they will vote for you, and some people will not vote for you. That is what we call democracy,” Adeleke said.
He stressed that his re-election would not change his responsibility to govern all residents, regardless of their political affiliations.
“As long as I’m the governor of Osun State, I’m the governor for all,” he said.
Adeleke urged members of opposition parties to work with his administration by bringing forward ideas that could contribute to the state’s progress.
“Please, come around, give me your ideas, so that we can join hands together and move Osun State forward,” he added.
The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the development agenda of his administration as he begins his second term.
