Nigerian Army Keeps Mute, Shields Lawless Soldiers Who Brutally Assaulted Yobe Traffic Official

The Nigerian Army has neither reacted to the incident nor identified the erring soldiers in spite of the growing concerns of the public.

The Nigerian Army has maintained a deafening silence 24 hours after some of its personnel attached to 241 Recce Battalion, Nguru allegedly attacked the Nguru office of Yobe Road Transport Management Agency (YOROTA) and assaulted an official of the agency, Yunusa Mohammed.

SaharaReporters learnt that the victim, Yunus Mohammed, is currently battling for his life at the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru after the assault by the lawless soldiers.

The Nigerian Army has neither reacted to the incident nor identified the erring soldiers in spite of the growing concerns of the public.

SaharaReporters had reported that Yunusa Mohammed had been hospitalised after suffering a brutal assault allegedly carried out by the Nigerian soldiers attached to 241 Recce Battalion in Nguru, Yobe State.

SaharaReporters learnt that the incident occurred on Monday following a disagreement between YOROTA officials and an unidentified Army officer said to be a Lieutenant.

The soldier was stopped by the traffic officials to carry out regular check on his motorcycle which angered the army personnel.

This led to the soldier slapping and brutalising the YOTORA official.

An eyewitness (name withheld) revealed that after slapping the traffic official, the army officer mobilised his colleagues from the barracks, who came in a convoy of two tricycles to the Nguru office of YOROTA and attacked every official they could lay their hands on leading to Yunusa Mohammed suffering from a life-threatening injuries.

SaharaReporters was told that Yunusa was admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru where heis currently receiving treatment.
