Herders’ Union Miyetti Allah Launches Membership Drive, Promises Protection For Registered Livestock Producers | Sahara Reporters
MACBAN made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday by Yusuf Abubakar, Special Assistant (Digital Media and Publicity) to the association’s National President.
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has launched a fresh membership drive, urging livestock producers across Nigeria to register with the association and promising members protection, advocacy, support and a role in shaping policies affecting their livelihoods.
MACBAN made the call in a statement issued on Wednesday by Yusuf Abubakar, Special Assistant (Digital Media and Publicity) to the association’s National President.
The association said its membership is open to all livestock producers, regardless of whether they are settled or nomadic, and irrespective of their ethnic, religious or regional backgrounds.
MACBAN said registered members would benefit from the collective strength of a national body when issues affecting their livelihoods arise.
According to the association, membership would also provide protection and advocacy, with MACBAN standing up for the rights, security and welfare of livestock producers.
“A recognized voice — speak with the collective strength of a national body when it matters most,” the association said.
It added that members would have access to support ranging from grazing access initiatives to modern livestock practices and training.
MACBAN also said its organisational structure extends from local government chapters through state chapters to the national leadership, giving registered members a platform to participate in the association’s activities.
The association further promised members “a seat at the table”, saying registered livestock producers would be able to help shape decisions and policies affecting their livelihoods.
MACBAN said the welfare of livestock producers remained central to its founding purpose.
“Our founding purpose has never changed: the welfare of the livestock producer comes first,” it said.
The association urged livestock producers who are not yet members to register through their nearest MACBAN chapter.
The latest membership drive comes days after MACBAN similarly invited Nigerians, particularly livestock producers, to join the association, stressing that membership was open irrespective of tribe, religion or ethnic background.
The association has consistently described itself as an economic organisation representing livestock producers and has rejected perceptions that it is an ethnic or religious group.
