The aggrieved worker urge the President, the EFCC Chairman, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development to initiate a full-scale inquiry into the operations of the FHA under Ojo’s leadership.

The Concerned Citizens and Staff of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) have petitioned the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), calling for an urgent investigation and accountability over alleged corruption, abuse of office, and mismanagement by the Managing Director of the FHA, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo.

Ojo, who is married to President Tinubu’s eldest daughter, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, was appointed by the President as the MD of the FHA in February 2024

The aggrieved worker urge the President, the EFCC Chairman, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development to initiate a full-scale inquiry into the operations of the FHA under Ojo’s leadership.

Allegations include questionable property acquisitions, illicit contract awards, excessive hotel expenditures, and abuse of land administration processes.

The concerned staff alleged that since he assumed office, the MD has turned the FHA into a personal fiefdom, sidelining the supervising minister and other executive leadership.

In their petition, they claimed that Ojo refers to himself as the “Jagaban boy” and often boasts about being untouchable, citing his close ties with the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.

He also allegedly brags about being the President’s in-law, using these affiliations to undermine lawful oversight and due process within the Authority.

According to the aggrieved staff members, the institution has degenerated into a theatre of corruption and impunity under Ojo’s leadership.

They further alleged that Ojo has strategically placed individuals from his ethnic group into key departments, effectively undermining transparency and institutional balance.

Of particular concern, they said, is the restricted access to records rooms by other staff, while sensitive documents are reportedly manipulated to enable widespread land grabbing and extortion of property owners.

According to the aggrieved workers, multiple credible sources within the FHA also report that the MD is currently under investigation for allegedly seizing lands and reselling them to new buyers, collecting illicit kickbacks in the process.

In one alarming incident, a staff member was allegedly detained and tortured after being accused by the MD of stealing a $50,000 bribe related to an illegal transaction.

The petitioners further alleged that the MD lives extravagantly in high-end hotels, arrives at the office as late as 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m., and then locks himself in the boardroom with critical files — a routine they say compromises institutional efficiency and accountability.

They emphasised that the FHA is a national asset, not anyone’s family business, and must not be used as a political war chest for Ojo’s alleged governorship ambition in Ekiti State.

The statement read, "We, the concerned Staff, are compelled to write this open petition to express our deep concern over the gross abuse of office, corruption, and mismanagement being perpetrated by the current Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).

"Since his assumption of office, the MD has allegedly transformed the FHA into a personal fiefdom, sidelining the Supervising Minister and other executive leadership.

“He calls himself the “Jagaban boy” and brags about how untouchable he is, he has the backing of Gbajabiamila and even Tambuwal – a moniker he flaunts to present himself as untouchable and brags about how he is the in-law of the President, thereby undermining lawful oversight and due process within the Authority.

"Under his leadership, the institution has degenerated into a theatre of corruption and impunity. It is alleged that he has strategically placed individuals from his ethnic group into key departments, effectively shutting out transparency and institutional balance.

“Most disturbing is the restricted access to critical records rooms by other staff, while sensitive documents are allegedly manipulated to facilitate widespread land grabbing and extortion of property owners.”

“FHA is a national asset, not anyone’s family business, nor should it be used as a war chest for Ekiti gubernatorial ambitions,” the staff said.

"We hereby call upon the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to urgently call the MD of FHA to order and initiate a full-scale inquiry into the operations of the FHA under his leadership,” the aggrieved workers said.

"The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately launch an investigation into the MD’s financial dealings, including property acquisitions, illicit contracts, hotel expenditures, and his suspected abuse of land administration processes.

"The Minister of Housing and Urban Development to reassert ministerial oversight and ensure that the FHA is repositioned as a transparent and accountable agency working for all Nigerians.”

"The longer these actions are delayed, the more damage is being done to the integrity of our public institutions and the rule of law. We urge you to act decisively in the interest of justice, accountability, and public trust," they added.
