Court Orders NDLEA To Produce Socialite KC Luxury Over Continued Detention In Cocaine Case | Sahara Reporters

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to produce socialite Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KayCee Luxury, before the court over his continued detention without formal arraignment.
The order followed an ex parte application filed by Afolabi through his counsel, A. Labi-Lawal, SAN, pursuant to the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, 2009.
Afolabi was arrested by NDLEA operatives on August 13 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while preparing to travel to Paris.
His legal team approached the court after he had spent more than 14 days in custody without, according to the application, being formally charged or arraigned.
The applicant is asking the court to intervene in what he contends is a violation of his fundamental rights arising from his continued detention.
SaharaReporters had reported on Tuesday, August 18, that the NDLEA arrested Afolabi alongside a logistics company employee, Lawal Kehinde, over the seizure of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in a courier consignment.
The agency described the seizure as the biggest cocaine interception involving a logistics firm in its history.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), put the estimated value of the seized cocaine at $27.7 million and said the operation was part of intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks using legitimate logistics and courier channels.
In response to Afolabi’s application, the Federal High Court directed the NDLEA to produce him before it for the matter to be heard.
