Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, is currently hosting the triumphant Super Falcons at the Aso Rock in Abuja.

The Nigerian delegation to the Nation's Cup arrived earlier today at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport to the warm welcome of government officials, football fans and cultural troopers.

The female national team members and their coaching staff are being hosted following their victory over Morocco, winning by three goals to two in Saturday's thrilling Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final played at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

Speaking the ceremony, the captain of the team, Ajibade Rasheedat, dedicated the victory to Nigerians.

"It is the celebration of every young girl in our villages, towns and cities, who dares to dream, every family that believes in the power of unity and Nigeria who carries our green and white flag with pride."

"This title is for you Mr President, it is for Nigerians, it is for Super Falcons and it is for every Nigerian girl who dreams to be on this stage."

Tinubu thereafter honoured the Super Falcons players.

Each player and technical crew is to receive the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), a 3-bedroom flat and $100,000 award.

Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that prior to the final match, Tinubu had sent a presidential delegation to Morocco.

In a statement released by the State House on Saturday, President Tinubu described the team’s performance over the past three weeks as “awe-inspiring” and a true reflection of national pride and strength.

The President particularly commended the team’s act of compassion following their semi-final win over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana, where players visited an injured opponent, Gabriela Salgado.

After the victory on Saturday, Tinubu stated that he was proud of the team.

"I am very, very proud of you. The entire nation is proud of you. You have lifted our spirita. You are a pride to your generation and we are all very, very happy,” he said.

"You will be celebrated, and I congratulate all the coaches and the management of the team, including the ministers and the officials. My very, very best regards to Rasheedat. Very good. I watched the penalty kick. That’s very courageous exercise. God bless you. Safe journey home, enjoy yourselves, and avoid injuries, God bless you."
