The family, through its representative, Chimezie Princewill Onwuka, alleged that a real estate company, Odibola Properties, and its associates had been marketing and selling portions of the disputed land without the family’s authorisation.

The Amaewhule family of Mbodo Aluu, Rivers State, has warned prospective land buyers against purchasing a parcel of land behind the Omega Power Ministries Church along Airport Road, Port Harcourt, amid an ongoing ownership dispute before a state High Court.

The family, through its representative, Chimezie Princewill Onwuka, alleged that a real estate company, Odibola Properties, and its associates had been marketing and selling portions of the disputed land without the family’s authorisation.

The land, described by the family as Amaewhule Family Land, also known as Ada Oru Farm Land, is located behind Omega Power Ministries Church along Airport Road in Port Harcourt.

In a public warning obtained by SaharaReporters on Saturday, Onwuka maintained that the family remained the customary owner of the property and had neither sold nor authorised Odibola Properties or any other party to sell it.

He urged prospective buyers, property developers and investors to exercise caution and avoid transactions involving the land until the court determines the dispute.

He said, “I, Chimezie Princewill Onwuka, issue this public warning on behalf of the Amaewhule Family of Mbodo Aluu regarding the systematic land grabbing of their ancestral land. I issue this warning as I have been involved in recovery of lands from criminal minded people in Port Harcourt recently, and I have seen how innocent buyers lose their hard-earned money after falling victim to these corporate land grabbers.

“The land in question is ALL THAT PARCEL OF LAND known as Amaewhule Family Land, also known as Ada Oru Farm Land, situate BEHIND Omega Power Ministries (OPM) Church, along Airport Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“It has come to our notice that ODIBOLA PROPERTIES, its agents, marketers and privies, without title, authority or consent of the Amaewhule Family, has been parading itself as owner of the said land and selling same to unsuspecting members of the public.

“The public should note that: 1. The Amaewhule Family is the customary owner and in lawful possession of the said land. The family has NEVER sold, leased or authorized ODIBOLA PROPERTIES or anyone to sell the land.

“2. This helpless family has approached the court to seek justice. The matter is now pending before the Rivers State High Court, Isiokpo Judicial Division in SUIT NO: IHC/246/CS/2026 – CHIEF GREEN AMAEWHULE VS FABULOUS AMAEWHULE, ODIBOLA PROPERTIES AND MR. BOLAJI OSHOBUKOLA. The doctrine of LIS PENDENS therefore applies.

“3. By Order 42 Rule 3 (4) of the Rivers State High Court Rules 2023, parties are bound to maintain status quo upon service of Motion on Notice.

“4. What these corporate land grabbers do is grab people’s ancestral land, quickly sell to innocent buyers, and put those buyers in legal jeopardy. They disguise as real estate companies and parade fake integrity on social media to lure naive victims. THEREFORE, THE PUBLIC IS STRICTLY WARNED: Do not purchase any land within the designated location behind OPM Church, Airport Road, from ODIBOLA PROPERTIES or its proxies. Any such purchase is a fraud, void, illegal and amounts to contempt of court.

“Do not purchase litigations in the name of investments. Any trespasser, buyer or developer on the said land will be prosecuted, evicted and will lose their money at the end of the case.

“I call on all well-meaning members of the public to flee from these antics and stay away from this particular land until the court determines the matter.”

The family disclosed that the dispute was already before the Rivers State High Court, Isiokpo Judicial Division.

According to the statement, the case is registered as Suit No. IHC/246/CS/2026, with Chief Green Amaewhule listed as the claimant and Fabulous Amaewhule, Odibola Properties and Mr Bolaji Oshobukola as defendants.

The family argued that the pending proceedings made it necessary for interested parties to exercise caution before entering into transactions involving the property.

It also referred to the doctrine of lis pendens, a legal principle concerning property that is the subject of pending litigation.
The statement further cited Order 42 Rule 3(4) of the Rivers State High Court Rules 2023 in support of its position on maintaining the status quo in the proceedings.

Onwuka alleged that the disputed property was being offered to prospective buyers despite the family’s objection to the transactions.

He warned that anyone considering purchasing land in the area should independently verify the property’s ownership and legal status before making any financial commitment.

The family appealed to members of the public to refrain from purchasing the land until the court delivers its decision.
