He said, “The Enugu State government should allow every political party to campaign in the state, in line with the Electoral Act and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 general election.”

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State for the 2027 general elections, Ocho Obodoeze, has warned the Governor Peter Mbah-led state government, to stop muzzling opposition parties in the state.

The ADC governorship hopeful also demanded for a level playing ground for all political parties in state, ahead of the general elections.

He said, “The Enugu State government should allow every political party to campaign in the state, in line with the Electoral Act and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 general election.”

Obodoeze issued the warning on Friday after receiving an award from the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council.

Speaking further, Obodoeze frowned at the wave of political violence in the state, targeted against the opposition parties, and challenged the state government to live up to its responsibilities of protection of lives and property in Enugu State.

He dedicated the award he received from the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council, to the slain politician, Ifeanyi Christopher Nworie.

Describing the moment as deeply emotional and touching to him, Obodoeze recalled that the deceased died from the gunshot wound he sustained during an attack by gunmen on the Campaign Office of an opposition party in Enugu on October 10, 2026.

He noted that the attack that claimed Nworie’s life, followed the pattern of violent attacks on the opposition parties in Enugu State since the commencement of this political season.

He prayed that the soul of Nworie and the souls of all the faithful departed continue to rest in perfect peace.

Meanwhile, Enugu ADC has hailed Obodoeze for the award given to him by the NUJ, Enugu State Correspondents Chapel, during its 2026 Press Week Celebration.

In a statement on Friday through the State Secretary, A.C. Udeh, the party described the award as well deserved and a morale booster for the party in Enugu State, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party assured that Obodoeze would govern with a human face if he becomes the governor of Enugu State and bring succour and restoration to Ogige Market traders and other victims of the demolitions by the Government of Enugu State under Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

According to the party, Obodoeze will reduce the high and multiple taxation that have burdened Enugu people under the current the current administration, to make life more meaningful to the people.

Enugu ADC further assured that the welfare of workers and pensioners will be accorded utmost priority attention under Obodoeze, a people-oriented man of integrity, compassion, capacity and vision.
