Six activists were arrested on Monday outside Jogoo House in Nairobi, Kenya, as protesters demanded the resignation of Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja over alleged police brutality, deaths in custody, reported abductions, and other concerns surrounding the conduct of security agencies.

The protesters, led by activist Julius Kamau, gathered outside the police headquarters to demand accountability from the National Police Service and greater transparency over recent incidents involving alleged abuses by security personnel.

The activists also demanded answers over recent reports of abductions and deaths in custody, while raising concerns about the unrest witnessed in Homa Bay.

According to reports from the scene, police moved to disperse the protesters as they attempted to address the media and explain their demands.

The confrontation resulted in the arrest of six activists, who were reportedly taken into custody as officers sought to prevent the group from continuing the demonstration outside the police headquarters.

The protesters accused the police leadership of failing to adequately address allegations of brutality and other violations attributed to members of the National Police Service.

They called for greater accountability within the force and insisted that those responsible for alleged abuses should be investigated and held accountable.
