The vice presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy at the beginning of his administration has created significant economic challenges for the country.

The NDC will reintroduce fuel subsidy in a different form if it wins the January 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interview with Arise TV, the former Kano State governor emphasized that an administration led by the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, would seek ways to reduce the cost of petrol for Nigerians, including increased investment in domestic refining, while avoiding the system previously used by successive administrations.
