Police Arrest School Proprietor In Plateau Over Alleged Defilement Of 9-Year-Old Pupil | Sahara Reporters
According to the commissioner, the suspect allegedly called the girl into his office while she was returning to her class after receiving medication at the school’s first aid office.
The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old school proprietor, Ahmed Bello, over the alleged defilement of a nine-year-old pupil in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, whose identity was withheld, is a pupil at Bello’s school.
The Commissioner of Police, Ayodeji Faniyan, disclosed this while parading Bello alongside 22 other suspects arrested for various offences in the state.
According to the commissioner, the suspect allegedly called the girl into his office while she was returning to her class after receiving medication at the school’s first aid office.
Faniyan said the incident was reported to the police on August 22, 2026, after the girl allegedly told her mother that she had been sexually assaulted by Bello.
The commissioner said, “On 22nd August 2026 at about 12:30am, we received a report from a citizen of the State, reporting that her nine (9) year old daughter narrated to her how she was sexually abused by one Ahmed Bello, male 40 years old, the proprietor of her school.
“The minor alleged that while returning to her class after receiving medication at the School’s First Aid Office, the proprietor called her into his office where he sexually assaulted her. She further revealed that he gave her herbal medicine and instructed her to leave.
“Upon receipt of the report, the victim was immediately taken to the hospital for medical examination, while the suspect has been arrested and is currently undergoing investigation. Upon conclusion of our investigation, the suspect will be charged to Court for prosecution.”
In a separate case, police also arrested a 35-year-old man, Saleh Abdullahi, for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.
Faniyan said the incident was reported after the girl’s cousin noticed that she was walking abnormally and experiencing difficulty while urinating.
According to him, the victim alleged that on August 19, 2026, she went to Abdullahi’s residence to grind maize when he allegedly lured her into his room and sexually assaulted her.
The commissioner added that the girl alleged that Abdullahi threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
He said the victim was taken to a hospital for medical examination, while Abdullahi was arrested and was undergoing investigation.
Faniyan said the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
