Siya Kolisi Cleared to Lead Springboks Against New Zealand

South Africa has received a major boost ahead of the second Test against New Zealand, with Springbok captain Siya Kolisi cleared to return to action after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Head coach Rassie Erasmus confirmed that Kolisi successfully completed his fitness tests and will start at No. 6 while also reclaiming the captaincy for Saturday’s Test in Cape Town.
Kolisi missed the opening Test after suffering the injury against Argentina earlir this month. His return comes at a crucial moment for South Africa, following the Springboks’ 33–16 defeat to the All Blacks in Johannesburg, which left New Zealand leading the four-match series 1–0.
Erasmus described Kolisi as an inspirational figure who brings significant value both on and off the field. His return is therefore expected to provide the Springboks with additional leadership and experience as they attempt to level the series in Cape Town.
The second Test is scheduled for Saturday, 29 August 2026, at DHL Stadium, with South Africa needing a victory to keep their series hopes alive.
