2027: I Never Reached Agreement With Tinubu On His Re-Election, My Support Based On His Region – Adeleke
Re-elected Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied reaching any agreement with President Bola Tinubu over his support for the President’s bid for a second term in 2027.
Following his re-election, the governor reaffirmed support for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, but his statement drew criticism from netizens who described the alliance as contradictory.
Responding to a question on whether there was any arrangement with Tinubu ahead of the election, Adeleke said,
No, I never reached an agreement with Mr President.
Giving reasons for his support, the governor said,
My support is just based on… he’s a Yoruba man, and he’s from the Southwest.
When asked if he would play an active role in Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign, Adeleke replied,
Big time, I will.
Whenever Mr President, when it’s time for him to campaign and all that, whatever how he wants me to come in, I will do it,
he said.
His comments came after Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, thanked Adeleke for publicly reaffirming his support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
In a post on X, Keyamo described Adeleke as “a man of integrity and honour” and said,
Thank you, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for the public and unequivocal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 Presidential Election. You are a man of integrity and honour. ‘Agreement is agreement.’
