SaharaReporters' checks show that the owner of the company which won the contract is Rebecca Omokamo Godwin, a woman currently under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission probe for alleged N500million fraud.

In May, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, was urged to stop shielding Rebecca Omokamo Godwin Isaac, popularly known as Bilikisu Ishaku Aliyu, from investigation and prosecution.

The Initiative Against Human Rights Abuse and Torture (INAHURAT) made this appeal  in Abuja.

In July, SaharaReporters reported that a prosecution witness, Abu Gambo,  told the Federal High Court in Abuja how he lost N62 million in a land transaction with Abuja realtor Rebecca Omokamo Godwin Isaac (also known as Becky or Bilikisu Ishaku Aliyu).

Testifying before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, Mr Gambo, a businessman and facility manager, said he paid the amount for two plots of land — Plots 17 and 18 within Plot 1862, located in Katampe District, Abuja.

Ms Godwin-Isaac is facing 17 counts bordering on fraudulent land sales and money laundering, brought against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). She is being prosecuted alongside her company, Homadil Realty Limited, as well as Richard John and his company, Rychado Homes Limited.

Previously, SaharaReporters reported that a review of the public payments portal, Govspend, showed that a sum of N86 million was spent by the Nigerian Police on Christmas decorations for the Force Headquarters and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun's residences in Lagos and Abuja.
