According to multiple accounts from the field obtained by SaharaReporters, many locations in Lagos either lack LASIEC officials or suffer from the absence of electoral materials.

Several residents of Lagos State have lamented the shoddy conduct of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) personnel in the ongoing local government elections across the state.

According to multiple accounts from the field obtained by SaharaReporters, many locations in Lagos either lack LASIEC officials or suffer from the absence of electoral materials.

For instance, as of the time of this report, it was gathered that Mende in Maryland is still waiting for LASIEC officials, while no election is ongoing at Ajeromi Ifelodun.

At Ibafon, the same situation was recorded, with no polling unit commencing voting.

Police personnel were also said to be absent at the polling units, while there was no voters' register and no accreditation process in place.

One of the agitated agents in Ajeromi noted that it was stated materials would be distributed by 3am.

"I was told that distribution of materials will commence by 3am, I was there since that 3am and up till now, they are just sharing the materials, I am not sure anything is happening. As you can see, they have a plan because when I came out this morning, I was indoor, trying to find out what's happening. In my ward, no Labour Party councillor or People's Democratic Party councillor, only APC and AAC."

"What we are saying here is very simple, any thumbprinted ballot paper will not be accepted at any polling unit. Elections that are meant to have started by 8am, they are coming here by 10am. They must provide voters'register and accredit before voting."

The Lagos State local government election is ongoing across the state to usher in new leaders at the local government level.
