Visa has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding cross-border payment access for Nigerians, ensuring consumers and businesses have safe, seamless, and reliable access to international transactions through naira- and dollar-denominated bank-issued Visa cards.
As a long-time partner to Nigerian banks and businesses, Visa said it remains focused on enabling secure cross-border payments, whether for travel, e-commerce, or international subscriptions. The company noted that its globally accepted cards are recognised by millions of merchants and service providers worldwide, offering Nigerians greater ease, global access, and convenience.
Vice President and Cluster Head, Visa West Africa, Andrew Uaboi, said the firm continues to be at the forefront of enabling trusted global commerce.
“Visa’s globally accepted cards provide Nigerians with greater ease and unmatched access wherever Visa is recognised, giving them the confidence to make secure and convenient international payments,” Uaboi said.
“Whether you’re a small business sourcing goods, a student paying tuition, or a traveller making travel plans, Visa ensures your transactions are simple, safe, and seamless.”
Visa said its global payment network is built on advanced security infrastructure designed to detect and prevent fraud in real-time, safeguarding cardholders through multiple layers of protection. This, the company added, reinforces its position as a reliable enabler of cross-border transactions.
Beyond individual consumers, Visa said its solutions also support Nigeria’s expanding small-business community. Many local entrepreneurs rely on international transactions to access suppliers, software tools, and global markets, and Visa continues to provide secure and convenient ways for them to grow their operations.
“Cross-border payments are a vital part of today’s global economy,” Uaboi added. “We understand how important it is for Nigerians to access goods and services from around the world with ease and confidence. Visa’s global network ensures greater acceptance and reliability, giving cardholders the assurance that their payments will be recognised and processed anywhere Visa is accepted.”
Visa, which facilitates more than 215 billion payment transactions annually across over 200 countries and territories, said it remains committed to deepening Nigeria’s digital payment ecosystem. Through partnerships with banks, fintechs, and merchants, the company aims to ensure Nigerians remain connected to global opportunities.
