Three Police Officers Caught On Video Brutalising Naked Tricycle Operator In Ibadan

Three Nigerian police traffic officers have reportedly brutalised, stripped, and arrested a tricycle operator at Idi Odo, Felele area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victim, popularly known as Keke Moruwa, was reportedly assaulted in broad daylight on Friday, despite claiming he had committed no traffic offence.

He said the officers dragged him out of his tricycle, beat him mercilessly, and tore off his clothes before taking him away in handcuffs.

Speaking after the incident, the operator maintained that he had not violated any traffic law, noting that the traffic light at the intersection was not functioning at the time.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters and posted by Oluwasina Alayo, the tricycle operator was seen being brutalised by three uniformed officers.

One of the officers had his knee pressed against the operator's neck while the two others pinned him to the ground. The victim's face and body were visibly stained with blood.

Narrating his ordeal, the operator said, “I picked a passenger close to UBA Bank. They came and told me to park. As I parked, they tried to drag the steering wheel from me. The three of them started punching me in the face.

“They took away my tricycle and deflated my tyres. After all this, when I tried to recover my tricycle, they came back, beat me again, and smashed my face and neck.

"They stripped me naked, beat me, and took away my tricycle."

Oluwasina Alayo told SaharaReporters that the officers involved are attached to the Felele Police Station in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He stated that the incident occurred at the Idi Odo Bus Stop, near Challenge.

“After they brutalised him, they immediately took him to the police station,” Oluwasina added.

When SaharaReporters contacted the Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, he neither answered his call nor responded to the message sent to him.
