The Niger State Police Command has killed a suspected armed robber dressed in military camouflage after he and his gang engaged operatives in a shootout.
The command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, made this known on Thursday in a crime bulletin in which he said three other members of the gang escaped with gunshot wounds.
He further said that the police also recovered an improvised gun from the slain robber while there was a manhunt for the runaway suspects.
“On November 20, 2025, at about 11.45pm, information was received that suspected armed robbers were sighted along the Lambata-Maje-Suleja road, robbing motorists along the road.
“The police patrol team attached to Maje Division mobilised to the scene, and on approaching the Numbawa/Malam-karo point, the robbers were engaged in a shootout by the team, where one of the hoodlums, who dressed in military camouflage, was neutralised while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
“Items recovered include: one improvised wooden gun wrapped with black celotape, a phone, and a torchlight. The corpse was deposited at the Suleja Hospital morgue, and the road was cleared for free flow of traffic. However, monitoring continues,” Abiodun stated.
Meanwhile, three other suspected robbers were arrested along the Kaduna Road, Suleja, where the robbers were said to have invaded a resident and robbed him of his motorcycle, phone, power bank and ATM cards.
Abiodun disclosed that investigations led to the arrest of Fatimah Abdullahi, 19 years and Shuaibu Ibrahim, 21 years, both of the Dan-Zazzau area, Kaduna and Sagir Adam, 21 years of T/wada area, Zaria, Kaduna State.
“On November 20, 2025, in a follow-up investigation to a case of armed robbery reported by a victim from the Chaichainiya area of Kaduna Road, Suleja, where some robbers invaded his residence and robbed him of his motorcycle, phone, power bank and three ATM cards.
“Investigation led to the arrest of Fatimah Abdullahi, 19 years and Shuaibu Ibrahim, 21 years, both of the Dan-Zazzau area, Kaduna and Sagir Adam, 21 years, of the T/wada area, Zaria, Kaduna.
“During interrogation, it was discovered that both Shuaibu and Sagir are scrap dealers in Jabi garage and also mentioned one Faisal, who arranged for the robbery incident. The incident is under investigation, and efforts to arrest Faisal are ongoing,” Abiodun stated.
