Ondo State Government has declared Friday a public holiday for public servants in the state ahead the Saturday’s Governorship Poll.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday, titled, ‘Declaration of Friday, November 15, 2024, as work-free day in Ondo State,’ signed by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, F. Ayodele.

The government said the move was to enable public servants in the state to travel to their various communities to exercise their civic responsibilities.

“The 2024 Governorship Election in Ondo State has been scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission to be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

“To this end, the Ondo State Government has declared Friday, November 15, 2024, as Work-Free Day for Public Servants in the State to enable them to travel to their various communities to exercise their civic responsibilities,” it partly read.

It further directed that “All Accounting Officers are to note the content of this circular and disseminate same to all staff of their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies.”
