The Enugu State Police Command announced on Wednesday the arrest and remand of nine suspects for various crimes, including unlawful possession of firearms, theft, vandalism, and stealing.
According to the police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, “The suspects were arrested in separate operations between February 7 and 18, 2025.”
He added that the suspects had confessed to their crimes, and further investigations are ongoing.
Ndukwe highlighted the recovery of several items, including “a locally made pistol, live cartridges, tricycles, generators, and stolen streetlight poles.”
Giving a breakdown of the arrest, Ndukwe said, “On February 17, 2025, at about 11:27 a.m., police operatives attached to the Unity Division of the command, in collaboration with the Neighbourhood Watch Group, arrested 20-year-old Onyebuchi Ukwu and recovered a locally fabricated pistol loaded with one live cartridge.”
In another operation, Ndukwe said, “Operatives attached to the New Haven Division, on February 18, 2025, at about 12:30 a.m., arrested one Samuel Kalu, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj tricycle. The suspect confessed to the crime, while the tricycle earlier stolen on February 17, 2025, was recovered and identified by its owner.”
The police command assured the public of their commitment to tackling crime and ensuring justice is served.
