NEMA distributes rice, cement to C’River fire victims
The National Emergency Management Agency has commenced the distribution of relief materials to persons and communities affected by recent fire disasters in parts of Cross River State.
The agency’s Uyo Operations Office flagged off the distribution of relief materials to persons and communities affected by the fire disaster in Goldie market, Calabar South, Abama in Bakassi and Nyaghasang in Calabar Municipality LGAs in Cross River State.

The agency disclosed this in a statement on Facebook on Tuesday that the exercise was carried out in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
“The distribution exercise took place at the SEMA Warehouse in Calabar and was done in collaboration with the CR-SEMA, Nigerian Red Cross, LGA leaders, security personnel, the media, and other key stakeholders,” it stated.

The relief materials included rice, garri, beans, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, iodised salt, zinc nails, dignity packs and bags of cement.
Speaking during the exercise, the Head of Operations, Mmandu Aisueni, sympathised with affected residents and urged them to make good use of the items.
“Speaking on behalf of the DG NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, [she] sympathised with the affected persons and encouraged them to make judicious use of the relief items provided,” the statement added.
