The Nigerian Communications Commission is set to host the inaugural edition of its Digital Awareness and Sensitisation Fora, a platform aimed at strengthening policy and innovation for Nigeria’s digital future, with a particular focus on digital access and equity.
Scheduled for 13 November 2025, the maiden forum will take place under the theme “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment.” It will bring together industry experts, policymakers, community stakeholders, academia, and development partners to explore practical solutions for bridging Nigeria’s digital divide.
The forum is designed to create a conducive environment for innovation and inclusion, focusing on four key areas: designing inclusive digital policies, promoting accessible infrastructure deployment, developing adaptive digital literacy programmes, and advocating affordable and accessible digital services.
“Nigeria is home to a large proportion of Africa’s young population, with 60 per cent under the age of 25. This demographic represents a tremendous opportunity for the digital economy, and we must ensure no one is left behind,” Head of Public Affairs at NCC, Nnenna Ukoha, said in a statement announcing the forum.
The forum is a collaborative effort involving key stakeholders such as the Universal Service Provision Fund, National Orientation Agency, National Council of Women Societies, Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria, FintechNGR, KOICA, Terra Industries, Association of Nigerian Inventors, Nigerian Universities Commission, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Imose Technologies, and the National Board for Technical Education.
Attendees will participate in panel discussions and exhibitions by innovators, fintech organisations, and students, highlighting innovations that showcase the creativity and potential of Nigeria’s digital ecosystem. The event will also be livestreamed nationwide via the portal at scf.ncc.gov.ng, ensuring broad access and participation.
The NCC emphasised that the forum will not only advance digital literacy and accessibility but also promote equity, empowerment, and national development by ensuring underserved communities can participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
