Man kills female lover in Cross River
A middle-aged man, Malime Ejor, has been accused of killing his girlfriend, Moshie Igu, over alleged infidelity in a community in Cross River State, sparking outrage among residents who are calling for justice.
PUNCH Metro learnt from local sources on Monday that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at about 0600hrs.
The 35-year-old suspect allegedly attacked the 26-year-old woman at a farm in Nwang Village, Ekajuk community, in the Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State.
One of the residents, who pleaded anonymity, said, “We heard the commotion and noise and rushed to the scene, but we were unable to prevent the situation because he was already using a machete on her.”
He reported that a heated argument broke out between the man and his lover over accusations of extramarital affairs, which escalated into violence, during which the suspect allegedly attacked her, leading to her death.
“We could not do anything. We were able to hold him. Our youths caught him and later handed him over to security operatives,” he added.
