File: Super Eagles and Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru
Fresh reports in Italy say Lazio will consider offers for Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, days after their coach Maurizio Sarri told the club to sell the midfielder, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The player is just returning to fitness from a hamstring injury, and has only played four Serie A games this season.
Earlier this season, he was excluded from the squad to make room for Toma Bašić during Lazio’s emergency period, but they are now considering a reinstatement as Nicolò Rovella has opted for surgery after conservative treatment failed to resolve his injury.
According to Football Italia, the player is still being considered for a potential sale.
“The situation is fluid, and every option remains on the table: including potential transfer activity. Dele-Bashiru is not considered untouchable, and if someone comes forward with a credible, convincing proposal in the coming weeks, Lazio will listen,” Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà wrote in his story.
Since joining Lazio from Hatayspor for €3.4m on a permanent deal in the summer, he has not been able to replicate his form in Turkey. Last season, he played 20 Serie A games, scoring three goals plus one assist for Lazio. He had scored eight plus three assists for Hatayspor in the Turkish Super Lig two seasons ago.
According to Lazio Press, the Nigerian is not central to Sarri’s plans.
However, Dele-Bashiru is not the only player Sarri wants to leave. He also wants to sell Reda Belahyane and Tijjani Noslin to help the club raise money for other signings later on.
Lazio confirmed that the Nigerian midfielder resumed individual training last month, signalling a major step in his recovery from the hamstring injury that has sidelined him since September, but his future remains unclear.
