Foundation distributes food to 2,000 Ogun families

The Oba Otudeko Foundation has launched a statewide food relief initiative to support 2,000 vulnerable families across the four geopolitical zones of Ogun State.

According to a statement, the foundation delivered the first phase of the programme in Odogbolu, where over 500 elderly and at-risk residents received essential food items.

The Odogbolu outreach marks the official commencement of the foundation’s December distribution schedule. The initiative reflects the long-standing commitment of the founder, Dr Oba Otudeko, to improve the world through enterprise and community responsibility. The foundation delivers this outreach in partnership with local leadership as part of a broader social impact policy. This policy focuses on supporting the essential pillars that build resilient societies.

During the distribution exercise, elderly residents and people living with disabilities received food provision packs. These packs contain staples such as rice and garri to support households during the festive period.

Speaking for the foundation, the Director, Yewande Giwa, stated that the initiative reinforces the values of the founder, Dr Otudeko. She noted that the foundation strengthens human capacity through practical assistance.

Giwa said, “Dr Otudeko, CFR, has always maintained that true leadership is measured by the lives it uplifts. This outreach embodies that philosophy. It is about meeting needs in a way that preserves dignity, strengthens communities, and affirms the humanity of every beneficiary.”

She added that the foundation believes the festive season should focus on mutual support. “At the Oba Otudeko Foundation, we believe that this time of year should be about coming together and uplifting one another. It is essential we model initiatives that reinforce love, care and value for every member of the community,” Giwa said.

Before the distribution, foundation representatives paid a courtesy visit to the Odogbolu Traditional Council. The Alaye-in-Council led the reception. The palace representatives commended the foundation for its respectful engagement with traditional institutions. They noted that “sustainable impact is achieved when service aligns with heritage and local governance.”

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture. A 76-year-old widow and retired teacher, Mrs Adenike Soyinka, praised the foundation for the orderly nature of the exercise.

Soyinka said, “Today, I felt seen. At my age, you worry that the world has forgotten you. But this Foundation remembered us. May God bless them abundantly.”

Another beneficiary, Lekan Dopemu, thanked the foundation for the surprise package, noting that the food would sustain his household of eight.

The foundation expects the outreach to reach nearly 10,000 individuals through the 2,000 targeted families. The Oba Otudeko Foundation continues to drive long-term social impact through interventions in education and entrepreneurship.
