According to the description, the money was for "Construction of New Deputy Governor's Lodge."
A SaharaReporters' review of the Ondo State budget performance document for the third quarter of 2025 has shown that a sum of N599 million was spent on the construction of a new deputy governor’s lodge between January and September 2025.

According to the description, the money was for "Construction of New Deputy Governor's Lodge."
Meanwhile, another N6 billion is planned for the "Construction and furnishing of new governor's lodge and banquet hall."
The state also intends to spend an additional N1 billion on the construction and furnishing of a new governor’s office.
Earlier, a SaharaReporters' review revealed that the state government spent N1.9 billion to purchase an armoured vehicle for the state governor and a luxury vehicle for the Secretary to the State Government.
The budget description reads:
"Purchase of one number armoured vehicle for Ag Governor, one number Prado Jeep for SSG and one numbers GAC."
While the original budget was N2 billion, the amount spent between January and September stood at N1.950 billion.
There has been increasing scrutiny of the Ondo State 2025 budget.
An earlier SaharaReporters' review of the same document showed that the Office of the Deputy Governor plans to spend N15 million on two executive chairs and another N20 million on an executive table.
This plan indicates that each of the executive chairs slated for purchase would cost N7.5million.
Despite calls for a reduction in public expenditure, the Ondo State budget for the 2025 fiscal year has continued to raise eyebrows.
Earlier findings by SaharaReporters from the same budget document also revealed that the State House of Assembly planned to spend N200million on telephone charges.
This means that every month, the state plans to spend N16 million on telephone charges — translating to N533,333 per day in a 30-day month, and approximately N22,222 every hour.
Another N10million is earmarked for the House Committee’s expenditure on telephone charges.
A further review of the 2025 proposed budget also shows that a sum of N20 million has been earmarked for "executive chairs" by the Office of the Accountant General.
Details in the document show that the procurement of forty executive chairs is estimated at N20 million, meaning each chair is expected to cost N500,000.
Other expenditures by the office include N8 million earmarked for the construction of a treasury gate and gatehouse.
Another N7 million is budgeted for the renovation and furnishing of the OAG Primary Data Centre, while the upgrading of developed and deployed software is estimated to cost N7.5million.
