Eagles fail to make Iwobi sing new song ‘What’s Luv’

Super Eagles players tried but failed to make Alex Iwobi perform his latest song, ‘What’s luv’, after the dinner at the team’s camp in Ivory Coast heading into their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group D clash with Benin Republic at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.

Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Boniface were more vocal, with the former harping, “What’s luv? Go stream that on YouTube, but their yearning fell on the deaf ears of Iwobi, with the Fulham midfielder smiling broadly and trying to make them understand it was neither the right time nor place.

The former Arsenal and Everton star recently announced the release of his second single, titled ‘What’s Luv?’ following his debut single, ‘Don’t Shoot’, which has been streamed nearly 60,000 times on Spotify since it was released earlier this year.

Iwobi recently shared the news on his social media platforms, announcing that the new single, featuring collaborations with friends SPKS and MBrown, was available on streaming platforms.

The 27-year-old, who has made over 250 Premier League appearances, believes his music delivers an important message to young people.

Iwobi’s debut song was aimed at deterring youngsters from street violence, while his latest release is a “celebration of his African roots.”.

“Growing up in an area of London that is challenging for some people, I know how hard it can be, and I’m grateful to have a platform to try and make a difference,” Iwobi said.

“I hope that my music is another way of proving that young people do not have to feel they have to fit in just one box. I want them to be encouraged to achieve their dreams and to put their focus into positive things.”

Iwobi has started all nine Premier League matches for Marco Silva’s Fulham this season and scored his second goal of the campaign in a 1-1 draw against his old club Everton last week.

“Creating music doesn’t take anything away from my football; it helps me switch off. I will always work hard and try to improve in my sport, but this is a good use of my spare time,” he said.
