American rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to four years and two months in prison after being found guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.

The 55-year-old Bad Boy Records founder was handed the sentence on Friday by Judge Arun Subramanian at a New York federal courthouse.

The term far exceeded the sentence time that the once-powerful producer had requested.

Combs appeared stunned and wide-eyed as Subramanian mentioned his children and also imposed five years of supervised release and a $500,000 fine, the maximum possible. He later turned to his family and said, “I’m sorry,” and “I love you.”

Prosecutors had said Combs arranged flights for women, girlfriends, and male sex workers for sexual encounters he allegedly referred to as “freak-offs.”

Combs was arrested in September 2024 following allegations from more than 120 accusers, including a minor, who accused him of kidnapping, blackmail, physical abuse, and crimes linked to prostitution.

In July 2025, a jury convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, tied to incidents involving women identified as Ventura and Jane. He was acquitted, however, on more serious charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, as well as racketeering conspiracy.

Federal prosecutors had earlier sought an 11-year sentence, calling the rapper “unrepentant” and arguing that he left victims in ongoing fear.

His defense team countered by asking for a 14-month sentence — equivalent to the time Combs had already spent in custody since his 2024 arrest.

Combs has been held for the past 14 months at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn, a facility notorious for harsh conditions.

The singer was also denied bail by Judge Arun Subramanian.

The judge ruled that the music mogul must remain in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn ahead of his sentencing.

In his decision, the judge stated that Combs and his legal team failed to demonstrate that he poses “no danger to any person,” a key requirement for pre-sentencing release, The Mirror US reports.
