Armed bandits carried out a deadly attack on Tudun Wadan Rido in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area on Tuesday night, killing two residents.
The attackers, who reportedly came in large numbers, opened fire indiscriminately, leaving several others seriously injured.
The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment after the assailants fled.
A local source confirmed the incident, describing the chaos that ensued as the bandits stormed the village.
Authorities had not released an official statement at the time of reporting.

Just last Wednesday, the Catholic Diocese of Zaria in Kaduna State confirmed the abduction of Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema from his residence at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rumi.
The incident occurred the previous night, raising concerns among parishioners and the wider community.
In a statement signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Isek Augustine, the Diocese expressed regret over the incident, underlining the seriousness of the abduction.
“We regret to officially announce the abduction of our Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ezema in his residence at St. Peter's Catholic Church Rumi, on Tuesday 2nd December, 2025 around 11:30pm,” the Diocese said.

The statement outlined the Church’s immediate response and called on the public to support efforts for the priest’s safe return.
