A prominent Nigerian medical practitioner in the United States, Dr. Olumide Osoba, has passed away.

His death was confirmed to SaharaReporters by his family on Tuesday night shortly after the he passed on.

Dr. Osoba’s educational journey began at Lagos Anglican Boys Grammar School in Abuja, after which he attended the University of Lagos, earning an MBBS (Honors) from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL).

He later pursued the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the United Kingdom.

Fueled with enthusiasm to excel in clinical medicine, he proceeded to the USA where he specialised in General Internal Medicine.

Known for his exceptional clinical skills and compassionate bedside manner, Dr. Osoba served as the Emergency Room Director at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

He later established his own medical practice near the Marcy Apartments on Marcy Avenue, where he became a trusted physician within the African American and Nigerian communities, including members of the Nigerian Diplomatic Corps at the United Nations.

Over the years, he also served as the staff physician for Long Island University in downtown Brooklyn.

Dr. Osoba was widely respected for his mentorship of Nigerian foreign medical graduates, many of whom have gone on to become leaders in the medical profession.

He is survived by his wife and children. His passing has left a deep void among colleagues, patients, and friends both in Nigeria and abroad.
