A fire outbreak has reportedly engulfed the old terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMA) in Lagos, a facility currently undergoing a multibillion-naira renovation.

Similarly, on September 6, 2023, a fire incident occurred at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed airport, Lagos.

According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), a suspected electrical spark at the baggage hall ceiling caused the smoke incident that was reported at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, located in Lagos. 

The source of the smoke was identified as a burning litium inverter battery installation at the basement.
