Bandits have abducted a local businessman, Suleiman Ndana, during a midnight raid on Tsaragi community in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The attack occurred around midnight when the gunmen stormed the area, targeting Ndana, who recently built a new fuel station in Yana Kokonna, Tsaragi.

Residents said the attackers operated for several minutes before whisking him away to an unknown destination. His abduction has since thrown the community into fear and uncertainty.

The latest attack adds to growing concerns over insecurity in Edu Local Government and other parts of Kwara State, where residents have repeatedly called on security agencies to strengthen surveillance and protection in vulnerable rural communities.

Also, last Friday morning, bandits attacked two brothers working on their farmland in Lema community, in the Edu Local Government Area of the state.

One of the victims was killed on the spot, while the other sustained severe, life-threatening injuries.

According to reports by Nupeko TV, the assailants stormed the farmland, located just a short distance from the main settlement.

The injured survivor was taken to the hospital for emergency medical care.

Also, last Friday, SaharaReporters reported that troops of the Nigerian Army had killed a suspected arms courier who was transporting assault rifles into a Kwara State community and recovered a large cache of weapons hidden inside a sack of charcoal.

According to a military statement obtained by SaharaReporters, the operation was carried out by troops of 22 Armoured Brigade under Operation Park Strike V during a snap checkpoint along the Share–Gbugbu Road in Edu Local Government Area on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

Acting on what was described as “credible intelligence,” soldiers intercepted a Volkswagen Golf 3 with registration number Bayelsa SAG-133 XA. The driver, who attempted to escape, was immediately neutralised by troops.

A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered five AK-47 rifles and three magazines stuffed inside a charcoal sack to evade detection.

Military sources revealed that the suspected courier had been tracked from Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State, a notorious hub for banditry and arms trafficking, before being intercepted in Kwara at about 8:30 a.m.
